The Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health and the Department of Oncology Faculty of Medicine, McGill University, invite applications for a position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Epidemiology in the area of cancer and the environment [Research Track, Contract Academic Staff].

Candidates must have a doctorate in epidemiology or an equivalent degree. Necessary qualifications for the position include evidence of research productivity (peer-reviewed publications) and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will have potential or proven ability to develop an internationally recognized research program in the area of cancer and the environment, to obtain grants for his/her own research and to contribute to the building of successful research projects and programs in public and population health with a focus on cancer control. We are interested in recruiting a candidate with strong epidemiological expertise who can contribute to teaching advanced methods classes in addition to courses in environmental and occupational health.

Faculty members are responsible for conducting a strong research program and for supervising graduate students at both the MSc and PhD level. The candidate will be expected to teach students in the Master’s and PhD programs in Epidemiology as well as the Master's in Public Health program. As the incumbent will be jointly appointed in the two aforementioned departments he/she will be expected to contribute to the academic life of both of these communities. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This contractual position offers funding support for a minimum of 5 years and an attractive benefits package.

McGill University is one of Canada’s leading universities, and the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health is home to one of the largest concentrations of faculty with expertise in advanced epidemiological and biostatistical methods in Canada. The Department of Oncology is home to over 200 faculty members who conduct world class research that ranges from understanding mechanisms of disease to clinical and population health interventions in cancer prevention, therapy, and control. Both departments have affiliated units at the McGill teaching hospitals, which provide advanced care to thousands of cancer patients yearly. The two Departments offer vibrant research environments and are top academic units in their respective fields in the world.
