This is a 12-month, tenure-track appointment.  Academic rank, salary, and departmental appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, community-based participatory research; social determinants of physical and mental health; behaviors that influence health and acute or chronic illness; patient-and-family-centered care; health promotion through physical activity, nutrition, non-smoking, alcohol and obesity prevention in adults and/or children; primary and secondary prevention.

Teaching areas include: social and behavioral sciences, epidemiology and/or biostatistics.

The University
Georgia Regents University is a major academic health center and health sciences research university committed to improving health and reducing the burden of illness in society by discovering, disseminating, and applying knowledge of human health and disease.  The GRU Health Sciences campus has more than 2,400 students in five Colleges: Allied Health Sciences, Dental Medicine, Graduate Studies, Medical College and Nursing.  The Summerville campus includes the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; Hull College of Business, College of Education and College of Science and Mathematics.  In an effort to synergize inter-disciplinary clinical and translational research across all colleges, GRU is committed to using innovative research tools and information technologies to promote research collaborations across the wide spectrum of basic, clinical and social science disciplines represented by all of our colleges, centers, and institutes.  Interdisciplinary collaborative research is encouraged.

The Institute of Public and Preventive Health
The mission of the IPPH is to improve health, reduce health disparities, and prevent injury and illness in Georgia through research, service, leadership, and training.  These will include the areas of health management and administration, epidemiology, behavioral health and health education, environmental and occupational health and biostatistics, and their interaction with the basic sciences to enhance translational as well as community based participatory research. The knowledge gained will lead to new approaches and informed decisions in the planning of public and preventive health strategies across our local community, Georgia and the nation.  The Institute will develop multiple community health networks and conduct rigorous interdisciplinary and community-based research.  Furthermore, the Institute will enhance the educational experience of GRU students by embedding public and preventive health concepts in their curricula and providing the opportunity of acquiring dual degrees (e.g. MD/MPH & DMD/MPH).

The Division of Prevention Science & Outcomes Research
The Division of Prevention Science & Outcomes Research (PSOR) is one of five units within IPPH.  Similar to its counterparts (e.g., Social & Behavioral Epidemiology; Outreach & Collaborative Studies; Education & Program Development and Health Sciences Research), PSOR includes scientists from across the Enterprise engaged in research, teaching and service.  The primary goal of this Division is to facilitate translation of health disparities research into practice by conducting clinical (e.g., medical, dental) and applied studies.

The Community
