The Department of
Epidemiology in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health is
seeking applicants for a tenure track or tenured faculty
position in Global Health Epidemiology of Non-Communicable
Diseases at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor
level. The top-ranked Department is a leader in
epidemiologic methods and research applications. Applicants
must have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications and
demonstrated potential to move the field forward.
Responsibilities: The new
faculty member will be expected to teach courses in
epidemiologic methods at the MPH and PhD level and will
conduct research that addresses global public health
problems using large datasets or a translational approach.
The concentration should be in an area of non-communicable
diseases (such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes,
or neurologic diseases) on an international stage or on the
investigation of social determinants of health broadly.
Candidates who additionally have a focus on translation of
complex epidemiologic data into global public health
practice and policy in order to bridge the gap between
epidemiologic discoveries and translational global public
health applications, or who have a focus on epidemiologic
methods, are preferred.
Qualifications:
Qualifications include a strong
record of research and teaching and an earned doctorate in
epidemiology or closely-related field; or an M.D. combined
with a graduate degree in epidemiology. Experience in
conducting extramurally funded research is strongly
preferred.
Salary is negotiable, based
on experience and qualifications. This position is a
9-month position and must be vetted by the University
Council on Academic Personnel and approved by the Vice
Chancellor.
