The
Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health
(formerly known as the Department of Social and Preventive
Medicine) at the University at Buffalo is in the process of
hiring three state funded, tenure track faculty. These
positions may be filled at the rank of Assistant or
Associate Professor. The position offers outstanding
institutional support and benefits.
Candidates
should have doctoral level training (Ph.D., M.D. or
equivalent) in Epidemiology, Environmental Health, or a
closely related field. A strong record of research funding
and scholarly activity is required for associate professor
rank. Candidates at the assistant professor rank should
demonstrate high potential for success and scholarly growth.
Candidates will be expected to have a productive research
program, teach in our graduate programs, mentor students,
and engage in professional service. Areas of particular
interest include Chronic Disease Epidemiology (including,
but not limited to Aging, Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes
and Women’s Health), Genetic Epidemiology, Infectious
Disease Epidemiology and Environmental Health. Preference
will be given to candidates with experience and/or a strong
interest in interdisciplinary research, as well as those
with interest or experience in global health or the global
applications of their area of expertise.

Department has a long and distinguished history in research
and student training. The Department of Epidemiology and
Environmental Health and the University at Buffalo (UB)
emphasize and value collaboration.
The
Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health is part
of the School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP),
a fully accredited school of public health (CEPH), and
offers a Doctoral degree in Epidemiology, a MS in
Epidemiology, and MPHs in Epidemiology and in Environmental
Health. Additional departments in the school include
Biostatistics, Community Health and Health Behavior,
Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, and Rehabilitation
Science. Buffalo provides a rich environment for
collaborative research with faculty within the SPHHP and at
other schools located in the Academic Health Center
(Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy
and Nursing), as well as Roswell Park Cancer Institute, The
New York Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life
Sciences, the UB Clinical and Translational Research Center
and the new UB Institute on Research in Energy, Environment
and Water (RENEW).
