The Centre
for research in Epidemiology and Population Health (Centre
de recherche en Epidémiologie et Santé des Populations,
CESP, Villejuif,

for the position of its Director for the period 2015-2019,
renewable. This is a position with tenure, either as
Professor at Paris Sud University or Research Director at
Inserm, the French National Institute for Health and Medical
Research (Institut national de la santé et de la
recherche médicale,
http://english.inserm.fr/ ).
All applicants must
have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or
equivalent. They must also have a successful track record of
funded research and a reputation for excellent scholarship;
teaching experience is also appreciated. The successful
candidate is expected to have strong leadership and
management skills; French language skills are an advantage
The CESP was created
by Inserm, Paris Sud University and Versailles Saint Quentin
en Yvelines University. It has close links with the Paris
University Hospitals Network ( Assistance
publique - Hôpitaux de Paris, AP-HP), Gustave Roussy
cancer campus (Institut Gustave Roussy, IGR), and the
French National Institute for Demographic Studies (Institut
National d'Etudes Démographiques, INED). The Director
will lead an exciting and innovative academic centre,
entirely devoted to public health research. It is made-up of
over 250 scientists and technical and administrative staff,
PhD students, and post-doctoral fellows. As of 2015, the
CESP will be organized as 9 teams with research on major
public health areas, including the epidemiology of cancer
and renal, vascular, and sexually transmitted diseases
(HIV), health services research, aging, gender and sexual
health, and infertility.
The anticipated hire
date is January 1, 2015 but can be earlier. Dead-line for
applications is May 1, 2014; review of applications will
continue until a successful candidate has been identified.
Salary is competitive and depends on qualifications and
experience.
