Position Description
The Public Health Department at Mercyhurst University invites
applicants for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant
Professor level. Mercyhurst is building an interdisciplinary
Public Health Department that currently offers a Bachelor of
Science and a Bachelor of Arts in public health as well as a
public health minor. The Department is in the process of building
an MPH program. Primary responsibilities include teaching and
advising students, maintaining a successful record of scholarly
activity (including research, publication and grant awards) and
assisting in the development of an MPH program. Qualified
applicants will be expected to teach 3-4 courses per term with an
option to teach 1 course in a J-term and to buy out courses by
conducting research and/or engaging in service to the University.
Qualifications
The Department is seeking applicants with a doctoral degree in
epidemiology, public health or a related discipline. Candidates
with teaching experience, peer-reviewed publications and a history
of working on grants are preferred. ABD candidates with expected
graduation dates prior to August 2013 will be considered.
