Position Details:
The College of Public Health at Kent State University invites applications for the position of founding Chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics to begin Spring/Fall 2013. Area of specialization for this position is open but should complement departmental strengths. Faculty research includes cancer, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, infectious disease, immigrant and global health, large data base analysis, longitudinal and survival analysis, mediation, and hierarchical linear modeling. The Chair is expected to advance the department's mission by attracting and mentoring quality faculty, expanding the department's research activities, building the graduate program, and providing administrative leadership including guiding the department to CEPH accreditation. As a faculty member, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain a productive research program, direct graduate research, exhibit excellence in teaching, and demonstrate a commitment to service to the department, college, and university.

The successful candidate for this position will have a doctoral degree in Epidemiology or Biostatistics, or a closely related field, with academic achievements commensurate with appointment as a full professor with tenure; a strong record of federally funded research; recognition in the field; and demonstrated leadership and administrative skills and experience.
