The Department of Environmental Health, a
world-renowned institution for environmental occupational, public
health and molecular genetics research, is seeking outstanding
individuals for a Tenure/Tenure Track faculty position in
epidemiology. Academic rank will be at the Assistant or Associate
Professor level depending upon experience. Qualifications for the
position include: 1) an earned doctoral degree in epidemiology or
related areas (MD, PhD, DrPH); 2) at least two years of advanced
training and/or professional experience in epidemiology; 3) a
record of original research related to environmental health and
disease prevention in human populations. Expressed interest and
ability to teach and mentor MS and PhD students in epidemiology
and clinical research is a must. Individuals with strong research
background in human health effects related to environmental
exposures, interaction between environmental and
genetic/epigenetic factors, cardiovascular health, metabolic
disorders, women’s health, neurodevelopmental and
neurodegenerative disorders are encouraged to apply. The appointee
will have the opportunity to become a member of the NIH funded
Center for Environmental Genetics, Center for Genome Information,
Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Training and
other clinical research centers. These Centers conduct
state-of-the-art epidemiologic, genetic, and clinical research.
Resources include the nationally recognized
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, the VA Medical
Center and productive research partnerships in metabolic
disorders, respiratory disease, and epigenetics. University of
Cincinnati affiliated clinical care facilities with a large
regional market share in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Strong
basic research programs in exposure assessment, molecular biology
and toxicology, genetics, pathology, immunology, and endocrinology
are available for collaborative investigations.
The successful candidate can anticipate a start-up
package and participate in doctoral and post-doctoral training,
including two NIEHS funded T32 training programs, and a NIOSH
funded T42 program.
