The
University of Adelaide seeks to appoint an outstanding academic to
the position of Director, Data Management & Analysis Centre (DMAC).
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and
enthusiastic researcher to contribute to the academic life of the
School, Faculty and University and to further develop a unique and
successful Centre.
DMAC
is one of Australia’s largest and longest established centres
supporting quantitative health research. It was founded in 1993
and now has over 40 staff in its three divisions of statistics,
data management and IT systems/programming. DMAC collaborates
with, among others, the Australian Orthopaedic Association
National Joint Replacement Registry, the Australian and New
Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry, the large clinical
trials program of the Women's and Children's Health Research
Institute, the Centre for Military and Veterans Health and the
Department of Veterans' Affairs MATES program at the University of
South Australia. DMAC provides the Statistics Service to the
Faculty of Health Sciences and associated teaching hospitals and
provides expert methodological and logistical advice to health
researchers at the University.
The
successful candidate will have an extensive track record in
quantitative research in the health arena, experience in managing
large research teams and the ability to interact productively with
research collaborators and clients. They will also have a proven
capacity to play a major role in mentoring and developing junior
and middle career staff. The successful candidate will probably
come from a background in epidemiology, biostatistics, or clinical
trials, but interest from candidates from other fields engaged in
quantitative research involving large data collections would be
welcomed.
The
Director, DMAC will continue and expand DMAC's role in supporting
large scale health research, seek new opportunities for
collaboration in national and international projects, and develop
doctoral and post doctoral projects for young researchers.
This
fixed–term position is available for five years in the first
instance at either Associate Professor (Level D) or Professor
(Level E). An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated
with the successful applicant.
