The Department of Epidemiology and Prevention, in the Division of Public Health Sciences at the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is actively searching for a Chair. The Department is a vibrant and successful academic unit dedicated to research in the etiology and prevention of diseases. It is most well-known for its strong chronic disease prevention portfolio.  Areas of research include cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, aging, genetic epidemiology, health disparities, health services research, occupational health, and nutrition. Faculty participate in observational epidemiological studies and clinical trials, and have extensive experience with large, national and international studies. They also conduct community-based research and collaborate with clinicians and basic scientists from a variety of other departments in the School of Medicine.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD, MD, or comparable degree plus training or extensive experience in epidemiology or related field, and will serve as the research, academic, and administrative leader for the Department. This person will be responsible for the continued success of the department’s research activities and graduate program and for faculty recruitment and development. The Chair will report to the Director of the Division of Public Health Sciences. It is expected that the Chair will maintain an active research portfolio.

Winston-Salem, with a population of approximately 220,000, is nestled in the northwestern region of North Carolina, within easy driving distance to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and the pristine beaches of North Carolina.
