As one of the leading land-grant institutions in the nation, North
Carolina State University is proud to announce its Chancellor’s
Faculty Excellence Program, a cluster hire program that marks the
first major initiative of the University’s 2011-2020 strategic
plan, “The Pathway to the Future.” Starting in 2012, NC State
will hire thirty-eight faculty members in twelve research areas or
“clusters” to promote interdisciplinary scholarship and the
development of innovative curricula in emerging areas of strategic
strength. The NC State Center for Human Health and the
Environment (CHHE) invites applications for three faculty
positions in a research cluster in Environmental Health Science.
The goal of CHHE is to stimulate interdisciplinary research aimed
at understanding how human health, at both the individual and
population level, is impacted by environmental factors and to
utilize this understanding to prevent or reduce the adverse
impacts of these factors on human health (go.ncsu.edu/chhe). This
tenured/tenure track faculty cluster hire in Environmental Health
Science aims to recruit: i) an Environmental Epidemiologist
to evaluate the effects of environmental stressors on human
populations; ii) an Environmental Exposure Scientist to
evaluate the relationships between exposure and human health; and
iii) an Epigenome Scientist to elucidate the relationships
among environmental stressors and the epigenome. Faculty rank
(assistant, associate or professor) is contingent upon
qualifications and experience. Preference will be given to
candidates with a PhD, MD, DVM, or equivalent degree who have an
established and externally funded research program. However,
exceptional junior candidates will be considered. The successful
candidates are expected to participate in collaborative,
multi-investigator research and training initiatives that includes
NC State biologists, toxicologists, geneticists, bioinformaticists,
statisticians, chemists and engineers to maintain a high impact
program in environmental health science. The departmental
affiliation of the successful candidate will be based on specifics
of the proposed research program and expertise. To apply, please
visit
http://jobs.ncsu.edu/postings/7119 to complete the Applicant
Profile. Applications should include curriculum vitae, letter of
intent describing research interests/program, and the names and
addresses of three references the committee may contact. The
Search Committee will begin reviewing applications on June 1, 2012
and the search will remain open until the positions are filled.
Confidential inquiries and nominations should be directed to:
