CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
The Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (GSPHHP)
is dedicated to providing cutting edge MPH- and DPH-degree
programs and to identifying, designing, implementing and
evaluating public health initiatives that promote social
justice. The mission of the school is to promote public health
policies that improve the health of populations. One of our
priority areas relevant to this posting is chronic,
non-communicable diseases such as cancer and/or cardiovascular
disease. GSPHHP faculty members are recognized leaders in
health policy, community health interventions, epidemiology
and biostatistics, and public health informatics, among other
areas. Faculty and students are actively engaged in addressing
critical public health problems in New York and other cities
around the world. The GSPHHP is located in a new vertical
campus in the heart of Harlem in New York City.
The GSPHHP seeks an Associate or Full Professor of
Epidemiology and Biostatistics. This position is a tenure
track position. The position reports to the Chair of the
Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department.
Duties include but are not limited to:

Strengthens and further develops the epidemiology and
biostatistics training component of the MPH and DPH programs;

Teaches graduate courses in epidemiology and biostatistics
helping to develop new courses aligned with the EPI-BIOS
program, as needed;

Seeks funding with interdisciplinary research teams;

Participates in Department and GSPHHP activities; and
-
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
For Assistant,
Associate, or Full Professor:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also
required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated
scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with
others for the good of the institution.
For Instructor:
Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active
progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent. Also required are
the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive
scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with
others for the good of the institution.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
A
preferred candidate should have:

Ph.D, DrPH, or Sc.D. in a field related to public health or
population health
-
Doctorate in epidemiology, biostatistics, or similar field in
the social or natural sciences with strong methodological
training.

Demonstrated track record of proficiency in teaching both
introductory and advanced epidemiology (or near equivalent
course material) at the graduate level and interest in and
potential for productive scholarship or creative achievement.

Research experience in public health, clinical, or related
discipline.

Active portfolio of grant funded research and peer-reviewed
scholarship.

Prior applied research experience in communities, workplaces,
health departments, or other non-academic settings.

Expertise in chronic, non-communicable diseases such as
cardiovascular or cancer epidemiology.
