The Physician Associate Investigator will report to the Executive Director of the Institute for Health Research (IHR) and will join our team of Investigators to produce the highest standards of scientific excellence through externally-funded research. We are seeking an MD or DO Associate Investigator with interest and demonstrated expertise and funding in the following content areas: Geriatrics, complex patient care, Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and/or end-of-life care, along with demonstrated interest in social determinants of health, disparities in health and health care and/or digital health as part of the research portfolio.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions - In order of importance, list primary job responsibilities.

·         Designs, develops, and obtains external funding to support independent research portfolio within
    the framework of the IHR and KPCO goals and objectives

·         Individually and collaboratively prepares internal reports and publications

·         Leads interpretation and dissemination of research results

·         Serves on relevant IHR and KPCO committees

FTE: Up to 0.85 FTE split between an independent research portfolio supported by external funding and clinical care delivery (generally 0.20 FTE)

Clinical FTE consistent with board certification of physician investigator

Job Qualifications

Candidates must meet Required qualifications.  If Required qualifications are not met, the candidate will be disqualified from applying from the position.  If Preferred qualifications are not met the candidate may still qualify for the position.

Required Minimum Education - minimum education or degree required

  • MD or DO

Preferred Education - education or degree preferred

  

Required Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications - years of job experience, skills or abilities required

  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in leading and managing a portfolio of research directed at Geriatrics, complex care, Alzheimer’s and other dementias, and/or end-of-life care
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate interdisciplinary teams
  • Prior leadership experience managing and leading research embedded with clinical operations
  • Not prohibited from research by any government agency
  • Familiarity with investigator-initiated research conduct and compliance
     

Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications - years of job experience, skills or abilities preferred

  A minimum of 7 years of prior experience with externally-funded research portfolio
 

Preferred Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation - Licensure or certifications preferred

·         Active medical license and board certification in medical specialty
 

Required Testing, IF applicable - MS Office Suite, typing test, etc required
