JOB TITLE: Assistant/Associate Professor of Population Health

DEPARTMENT:  Department of Population Health, School of Health Sciences

Hofstra University, a private, nonsectarian, co-educational institution, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor faculty position in the Department of Population Health. The successful candidate will join a vibrant BS in Health Science program to engage in scholarship, teach, and serve internal and external communities alongside a multi-disciplinary faculty and a diverse student body with a deep commitment to enhancing social justice.

♦       Hofstra’s BS in Health Science program is designed to prepare and support students interested in a broad range of clinical health care professions including medicine, dentistry, nursing, nutrition, physician assistant studies, and clinical research.

This undergraduate program integrates a comprehensive health core grounded in the concepts of wellness, health promotion and disease prevention; a science core designed to meet all the prerequisite course requirements for application to medical school or other clinical study programs; a grounding in research methods and design; and an underlying liberal arts core that encourages critical thinking and facilitates overall personal growth and development.

♦         The Department of Population Health is a dynamic community with over 700 students, 350 undergraduate students in Community Health and Health Science, and another 400 graduate students in our three graduate programs: Master of Public Health, Master of Health Administration, and Master of Science in Health Informatics.  The Department of Population Health resides in the School of Health Sciences, along with three other departments: Allied Health and Kinesiology; Counseling and Mental Health Professions and Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences.  Thus, there are many exciting opportunities for inter-professional collaboration.

The community in which we are located enhances our programs. Nassau County is one of the country’s first suburbs and one of the most culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse communities in the nation.
