There is potential for advancement in rank at the Assistant and Associate Professor levels. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is required for this position. This can take the form of previous experience developing and teaching courses (independently or as a teaching assistant/secondary instructor) or extensive experience preparing and delivering education programs.

The expected teaching load is 6 courses per year (including summer) in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Courses can be in-person or online. Potential undergraduate courses include Intro to Epidemiology and Public Health Data and Methods, and potential graduate level classes include Principles of Epidemiologic Research and Quantitative Methods in Epidemiology. Other courses will be assigned based on the applicant’s interests or in response to programmatic needs. Though teaching will be the primary responsibility and evaluation criterion for promotion, additional scholarly activity, especially activity involving students or related to public health pedagogy, is encouraged. Selected education-related service to the Department, School, and field is expected for promotion, for example such service could include leadership of a program (e.g. MPH director).
