The University of Arizona Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking a dynamic, mid-career cancer epidemiologist to advance our nationally recognized efforts in cancer prevention and control. The individual will have the opportunity to collaborate with other epidemiologists, biostatisticians, geneticists, biologists, and clinicians at the University of Arizona Cancer Center as well as numerous community partners and collaborators throughout the Phoenix area to advance programming in cancer prevention and control epidemiology. Importantly, this position will build on the health disparities efforts across the state with an emphasis on our catchment populations including Hispanic/Latinos, Native Americans and the aging. Previous research experience, history of successful peer-reviewed grant funding, and a relevant publication record are required. The candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program with peer-reviewed funding.

The University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health ( affords a rich environment for cancer epidemiology research, particularly in the Phoenix Metropolitan area where over 4.2 million people reside, 40% of which are from under-represented minority groups. The College ranks in the top five for Hispanic and American Indian student enrollment and graduation among accredited schools of public health. The University of Arizona Cancer Center is a NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with campuses in Tucson and Phoenix and strategic presence in rural communities across the state. The Cancer Prevention and Control program supports over 12M in annually research and has purposeful collaborations with the basic, clinical, and translational science research efforts. Faculty in the Cancer Center are well funded in cancer prevention as well as cancer epidemiological research, providing a strong foundation for collaborations. Recent selection for the national Precision Medicine program places the University at the forefront for expanded, high impact precision cancer prevention and control. The Cancer Center is further supported by a broad array of Shared Resources in support of our cancer research activities included but not limited to Genomics, Proteomics, Cancer Imaging, Biostatistics and Behavioral Measurements and Interventions as well as our comprehensive biorepository which provides biospecimen collection, processing, and storage coupled with clinical and risk factor data collection for a variety of cancers as part of our growing epidemiology program.

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to interact and collaborate with the other UA Health Sciences colleges: Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing and the Phoenix based Health Sciences campus that includes Public Health, Pharmacy, Medicine, and Nursing.
