Applications are
invited from candidates with outstanding credentials and an
excellent track record of research productivity to join our team
of world-class scientists in the department of Cancer Control
Research (CCR) of the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA). CCR has a number of
strong core research programs directed toward the reduction of
incidence and mortality from cancer, sustainability of cancer
care, and alleviating the burden of suffering from cancer.
The ideal
candidate will have a PhD in epidemiology, statistics, or related
discipline. Preference will be given to researchers who hold or
have the potential to hold competitive career research salary
awards, who provide the best fit with CCR’s core mandate and who
have expertise in molecular epidemiology. Recognition of the core
principles of collegiality, teamwork, accountability and integrity
is expected. The role will allow a minimum of 80% of time to be
devoted to the conduct of research and training with the balance
of time to be devoted to administrative and/or service functions.
A successful candidate would be anticipated to obtain a cross
appointment at an appropriate rank in a relevant department at the
University of British Columbia.
Key attributes of the successful applicant will
include the ability to initiate and sustain a successful
nationally recognized research program as indicated by significant
contributions to multiple high impact publications, acquisition of
peer-reviewed funding from national or international agencies as a
principle investigator and as a co-investigator, invited
presentations, reviews for journal articles and grants, and strong
references by recognized arms length authorities in his or her
research discipline.
