Graduation from an accredited Baccalaureate nursing program; Master of Science in Epidemiology and/or Public Health, or a Master of Science in Nursing preferred, Masters in Healthcare Management or other relevant field is acceptable.  Certification in Infection Prevention & Control (CIC) required or must be eligible to obtain; Must have at least five years of experience in an acute care hospital infection control program, academic medical center preferred, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience; knowledge in fields related to infection control such as microbiology, patient care practices, clinical infectious diseases, medical statistics, epidemiology and adult education principles are essential.

We are conducting a national search for an innovative and experienced Director of Infection Control. This position is an excellent career opportunity, in a professionally challenging and rewarding environment, where the Infection Control Department is both well supported and highly regarded. We are looking for an individual who can represent the department to senior level stakeholders, while providing vision and leadership for future growth. The Manager of Infection Prevention & Control will collaborate with leaders across all main campus departments, offsite health centers and ambulatory surgery sites. This not-for-profit, academic medical center has an inpatient capacity of approximately 900 inpatient beds, several large health centers, multiple outpatient buildings and two ambulatory surgery centers. This position offers competitive compensation and full benefits.

 

The Infection Control Director will lead a team of six (6) experienced Certified Infection Control Practitioners and is responsible for managing and supervising all activities related to the prevention, control, documentation and reporting of healthcare-associated infections and communicable diseases throughout all facilities and services. Other responsibilities include: designing, leading and maintaining a hospital-based infection prevention and control program that is consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommendations, The Joint Commission Standards, OSHA, CMS and DOH regulations and current published literature in the field of Hospital Epidemiology; setting standards and evaluating compliance for practices that are associated with the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections; providing consultative services to all areas, both clinical and non-clinical. This position reports to the Hospital Epidemiologist and to Chief Medical Officer. The Director of Infection Control will have a total of nine (9) FTEs. Staff includes five (5) Certified Infection Control Practitioners along with one (1) Certified Infection Control Practitioner for IC projects, one (1) RN Hand Hygiene Program Manager; one (1) Administrative Assistant and one (1) Data Manager.
