The Department
of Epidemiology and Biostatistics invites applicants for tenured
or tenure-track academic year positions (9 month) at the
assistant, associate or full professor level in epidemiology. The
level of the academic appointment will depend upon the overall
experience, publication record, and external funding history of
the candidate. The new positions are part of a multi-year
expansion plan for the Department.
Faculty within
The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics are principal
investigators on multiple federally-funded research awards, 2 NIH-funded
T-32 training programs, and a K12-award for women’s health (BIRCWH).
The Department offers MS and PhD degrees, and is also involved in
teaching medical students and undergraduates. The successful
candidate will be expected to develop an independent research
program and teach within our graduate and/or undergraduate
education programs, and mentor graduate students and post-doctoral
fellows.
MSU has 4
health-related colleges (Human Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine,
Veterinary Medicine, Nursing) with strengths in diverse areas of
population science research including mental health, neurologic
disorders, infectious diseases, cardiovascular health, perinatal
and pediatric epidemiology, cancer, occupational health, women’s
health, environmental health, food safety and health services. The
2 human medicine colleges have campuses in multiple Michigan
cities, offering unique opportunities for epidemiologic research
in this distributed campus system. There is a strong, campus-wide
history of international research and of collaborations across
colleges and departments, clinical and non-clinical.
Requirements:
Doctoral degree in epidemiology, or in related field with
additional epidemiology training.
